Investment and Financial Requirements 

Option 1: Property Purchase

  • Real Estate Investment:

    • Minimum €350,000 in central/northern Malta.

    • Minimum €300,000 in South Malta or Gozo.

  • Government Contribution: €28,000.

  • Non-Profit Donation: €2,000 to a registered Maltese NGO.

  • Application Fee: €40,000.

Option 2: Property Rental

  • Annual Lease Agreement:

    • Minimum €12,000 in central/northern Malta.

    • Minimum €10,000 in South Malta or Gozo.

  • Government Contribution: €58,000.

  • Non-Profit Donation: €2,000 to a registered Maltese NGO.

  • Application Fee: €40,000.

Additional Financial Criteria:

  • Asset Verification: Demonstrate a minimum of €500,000 in assets, with at least €150,000 in liquid financial assets.

  • Health Insurance: Obtain comprehensive health insurance covering all risks in Malta.

  • Dependents: An additional €10,000 fee applies for each dependent parent or grandparent included in the application.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: Main applicant must be at least 18 years old.

  • Nationality: Open to non-EU, non-EEA, and non-Swiss nationals.

  • Criminal Record: Applicants must have a clean criminal history.

  • Health: Applicants must be in good health and possess valid health insurance.

Family inclusion

The Malta Residency program allows inclusion of: 

  • Spouse,
  • Dependent Children (including adult dependents),
  • Dependent Parents or Grandparents.

All family members receives the same residency rights as the main applicant.

Residency requirements

There is no physical presence requirement. 

Path to Citizenship

After five (5) years of maintaining the investment and meeting residency requirements and other requirements, applicants can apply for Maltese Citizenship.
